Rock inscriptions in Australia show us that the Aborigines were collecting honey in prehistorical times. In Spain, cave paintings of honey collectors were discovered – they are dated to be more than 8000 years old. More than 5000 years ago, honey was considered to be a food of the gods and even a source of immortality in ancient Egypt. Today, thanks to its precious nutrients and its proven healing powers, honey has a great variety of uses. Its foremost specialty is its most popular feature, however: Its function as a sweetener of foods and drinks.

The historical significance of honey reminds one of the historical appreciations of saffron. In ancient Egypt and Greece saffron was known for its healing powers. For many thousands of years it has been known and used in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine as a potent medicine. By bringing together saffron and honey as valuable ingredients we are able to promise you an extraordinary delight – the taste of which will surely cast a spell your taste buds!

A clever creation – a new flavour is brought to the table

One could say that the MIASA Saffron Honey has within it the wisdom of the millennia. It charms one with its uncommon flavour, its velvet sweetness and the warm breath of saffron.
Pure, deep-red saffron threads of the highest quality enhance the German acacia honey. Acacias are often the first bloom that bees visit after a long winter due to them bearing blossoms early on in the year. This is how an especially mild, flowery aroma comes to be held within the clear and liquid honey – which maintains its consistency for a long time. This mild aroma and flavour is complementary for the saffron’s distinguished and delicious taste.

Acacia honey is especially well suited to be used as a sweetener for desserts, in baking or for drinks; such as a soothing, hot milk. The MIASA Saffron Honey is also often used for the sweetening of teas – which it transforms into health elixirs! One should remember, however, that honey should only be added after the drink has had the chance to cool for a little while, as it loses all of its health benefits and healing powers once it is heated above 40°C!

Controlled quality – a fundamental premise of MIASA

Our beekeepers constantly undergo quality inspections prior to and after the filling of the honey in order to ensure the highest possible quality – as only the best acacia honey is suited for being used with our premium MIASA saffron.
