MIASA’s Story

Our CEO and founder, Michael Sabet, obtained his Business Administration degree with an International Management emphasis before building his experience in a variety of positions in his field. During this time, he traveled far and wide, and came in contact with the most precious and versatile of spices: Saffron. As a curious and experimental gourmet, he quickly developed a passion for the spice due to its singular flavour, and its incredible versatility.

Over time, Michael experimented with new ways to wow friends and family with different applications of his new favorite spice. This experimental drive developed into a passion for saffron, and eventually led him to step off the beaten path and take the plunge into entrepreneurship in the spice industry. His goal: to elevate saffron to new heights, and to share his passion with the wider world. This passion has shapes MIASA’s relationship to our customers and our partners, and our commitment to top quality saffron and sustainability. Today, MIASA imports the finest saffron from all over the world, and even develops new, unique saffron products; most notably our exquisite saffron liqueur.

About Saffron

Saffron consists of the fine pistils of Crocus sativus, a crocus plant. Since time immemorial, it has always been linked to bright colours and luxury, earning it the pseudonym “red gold”. Because of its sophisticated and highly versatile flavour, it is considered a central and indispensable ingredient in a wide variety of fine cuisines.

Since antiquity, saffron has been studied and put to use in a variety of applications. Whether as an ingredient of precious perfumes, as a dye for select fabrics or a colorant for special dishes, saffron was a royal symbol of wealth and power, and to the present day it is especially valued as a sophisticated spice indispensable for fine cuisines all over the world.

MIASA saffron prioritizes and stands for the highest quality saffron in the world. We source our saffron primarily from the Khorasan region in northern Iran, as well as select producers in Italy, France, and other countries. We discriminate on only one critical point; quality. The saffron we offer meets the highest standards in the business. MIASA Saffron accords to the highest quality standard of category 1 (DIN ISO 3632-2)
