Saffron in the Colder Seasons

Not long ago we were whining about the much too humid, far too hot summer, but now that autumn with its wind and rain has arrived, we are shivering and feeling the chill. And the long winter with snow and cold is dreaded by many. But enough of that!
Because the colder seasons also have their advantages: we can snuggle up comfortably at home and, with a clear conscience, get cozy on the couch with tea, candles and a good book. After all, if it’s grey and damp outside, we aren’t missing anything out there. The bright side of autumn and winter: autumn walks in colourful leaves, collecting chestnuts with the kids, sledging and wild snowball fights in winter… and then – even cozier – Christmas time with its glitz and sparkle all over the house! So you see, there are many reasons to look forward to the colder seasons.
Saffron also makes a big appearance now: because saffron warms from the inside out and stimulates the circulation. Especially at this time, enjoy delicious, hearty saffron dishes like risottos, paella, bakes or warming soup.
Get inspired by our delicious saffron recipes! Our tip: invite friends and family round, when it’s miserable outside, and cook all together. Then enjoy the result in good company. How about making, for example, a Chestnut & Walnut Terrine with saffron sauce?
Not only savoury dishes but also sweet desserts and divine drinks can be created with saffron. Browse here for inspiration! Tip: enjoy warm saffron milk or hot saffron tea to warm up after that autumn walk.
And when Christmas time is nigh, kids especially will look forward to baking together. Here, you can find our delicious baking recipes with saffron – how does a Raisin Wreath Cake with Saffron sound, for example?
If you want to warm up after a walk in the chilly autumn air, enjoy a blissfully steaming bath with saffron oil or saffron salt.
Tip: you can make your own warming and relaxing saffron-spice-pouch by filling small pouches with saffron threads and laying them onto your skin whilst warm.
We wish you a magical autumn and winter!
