Under the Sign of Sustainability: Miasa Saffron at Next Organic in Berlin

MIASA is pleased to be taking part in Next Organic, the trade fair for sustainability and conscious consumption, which will be in Berlin on 18th May 2014. It is our philosophy not only to deliver first class products of best quality, but also to treat our customers and partners with openness and transparency. Our interpretation of quality is based on the taste and other tangible aspects of our product but we go further than that. When we assess overall quality, we also focus on sustainability and fairness.
Next Organic campaigns against the increasing non-transparency and industrialisation of the food industry and brings together professionals from the gastronomy and delicatessens trades. It particularly supports local produce from organic agriculture, but also those who distinguish themselves through their first-class quality products, such as our MIASA Saffron.
We appreciate the guiding principles of Next Organic and are looking forward to a day of exciting encounters and inspiring exchanges. Join in and visit us at the fair – you can look forward to many culinary delights of tasty specialities, combined with exciting aspects of sustainable, ethical and organic consumption.
Saffron, being the most expensive spice in the world, would not be seen as a truly deluxe product without its intensive aroma and tantalizing taste, which are dependent on its naturally pure origins. With this in mind, with MIASA Saffron we exclusively guarantee the best quality through both environmentally-friendly production in the country of origin, and fair conditions for our partners.
Our saffron plants are purposefully cultivated and cared for in sync with their environment. This means that MIASA Saffron is free from pesticides, artificial additives and colouring agents. In addition, the conditions in the cultivation areas of Northern Iran could not be more perfect. Cool nights and sunny days, in conjunction with limy soil and gentle processing procedures result in a top class finished product.
Every autumn the Crocus Sativus (the saffron crocus), starts to bloom gloriously in purple before the crocus flower opens up, and its three precious threads are carefully picked by hand. Of these threads only the best parts are used for the MIASA Saffron: the stigma, the dark red uppermost portion of the threads. This is why saffron is also known as the Red Gold and the dark red colour symbolizes best quality.
